This class will teach you the "Prepared Edge" method of applique to make a simple yet visually dynamic quilt block that can be made into a larger quilt or a toss pillow.

Skill level: Confident Beginner

 

SUPPLY LIST

Variety of colors of shot cottons or similar (looser weave) solids. See * note.

15" x 15" piece of white fabric for quilt backing

15" x 15" piece woven fusible stabilizer: Pellon Shapeflex 101 or similar

15" x 15" piece of Apliquik (or similar) semi-soluble, fusible stabilizer

50, 60, or 80 weight thread for applique in matching colors to your flower petal, flower center and leaf fabrics

Basting thread (any size or color)

Hera marker

Straw needles, size 11

Sashiko needle

#8 white Perle cotton or Sashiko thread for quilting background

#8 Perle cotton, colors for quilting flowers

Sharp fabric scissors (serated if you have them)

Glue stick pen & refills

Pencil or Micron pen for tracing the pattern

Applique pins

Cutting mat to work on

Thimble if you use one

Your favorite sewing kit supplies

* Standard quilting cottons are more densely woven and difficult for learning applique techniques. Avoid batiks and Kona solids until you are more experienced.
